Taking care of nature

The long-term goal for our company is very clear. We want to become a company which imposes no ecological burden on the surroundings and the environment. Carbon-neutral commerce is our overriding goal. In order to reduce our ecological footprint even further, we have afforded environmental care the highest priority in recent years. For years now, we have operated a highly intensive investment policy, with the result that we work with printing presses which use the very latest technology.

Being a printing firm, we work in a sector where the raw materials we process are almost 100% recycled. Paper is scarcer than ever and is collected, sorted and recycled down to the last kilo. The same goes for the aluminium used for the printing plates. We want to reduce even further the fraction, just a few percent, which is wasted.

We also do everything we can to minimise our energy consumption. We recover heat and cooling from the printing presses, have installed “smart and energy-efficient” lighting systems in the workshops, installed 1,508 solar panels on the roof of our company buildings and, starting 2023, we will use only 100% green electricity. To reduce energy consumption even further, when we invested in the latest 80-page printing press, we opted for a drying oven which uses at least 70% less gas.

But we don't just bother about energy consumption. We sort all our waste streams and 100% fully recycle raw materials such as printed and unprinted paper, cardboard and printing plates. FSC paper is processed in a totally separate stream. Nothing there can be wasted. We use the very latest printing technology to minimise consumption of paper and inks on the presses. We print using ink-saving screens and only highly pigmented inks which carry the Blue Angel badge. This also allows us to reduce ink consumption significantly.

Our environmental certificates

Thanks to many years of effort and care for the environment, we have been entitled to use the coveted French badge “Imprim’Vert” since 2014. This label is awarded to printing companies which meet strict standards for energy-efficient production, respect for the environment, recycling raw materials and raising awareness among employees regarding environmental concerns. You can include this badge on your printed materials free of charge.

And since 2020 we can also boast about the Voka sustainability certificate. As part of the Voka Charter for Sustainable Entrepreneurship, we have been working on an individual annual action plan in recent years. Our starting point was the 5 pillars of sustainability (People, Prosperity, Peace, Partnership & Planet) along with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
